Best SOC 2 Compliance Automation Software (2026)

The short answer: Compliance automation software connects to your cloud and work tools, collects the proof an auditor (an outside firm that checks your security) asks for, and tracks your policies and controls. It does not issue the SOC 2 report, the security report buyers ask for. The independent auditor does. Here is what fits each kind of startup, with the price where one is set.
Updated October 2026
  • If you want to see a price before you talk to anyone: Secureframe starts at $7,500 a year. Strike Graph has Scale from $21,500 a year and Enterprise from $35,000 a year, and it prices its add-ons. The other nine platforms give a price after a demo or a call.
  • If you want the audit and the software from one company: Thoropass sells both. Its audit arm is a licensed CPA firm (a firm that checks your security and signs the report), and the software is its own.
  • If you want an open-source platform (one whose code anyone can read): Comp AI's code is on GitHub, and it gives a quote after a 20-minute call.
  • If you want security testing and a dedicated expert in the fee: Oneleet's one flat fee covers the platform, human penetration tests (security tests by outside experts), a vCISO (an outside security lead) and audit support.
  • If you expect to add more frameworks later: Hyperproof covers 160+ frameworks, Scrut 70+ and Vanta 35+, and Vanta has 400+ integrations. All three are quote only. A framework is a set of security rules, such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001.
  • If you mostly need a trust center and help with security questionnaires: Conveyor has a free plan and charges by use. A trust center is a web page where buyers can see your security documents. A security questionnaire is the long list of security questions a buyer sends before it signs.
Prices are as of 20 October 2026. Confirm the current price with the company before you buy.

Is this page right for your startup?

This page is for founders at seed to Series B startups (the early funding rounds). You need a SOC 2 report or an ISO 27001 certificate to close a first deal with a large company. The buyer's security team asks for proof, and you need a way to produce it without a full-time security hire.

A SOC 2 report is a report from an independent accounting firm (a CPA firm) on the controls your company has for security and for protecting customer data. ISO 27001 is an international standard for managing information security. A certificate is written assurance from an independent certification body that your company meets it.

This page compares 11 platforms on what they cost, what they cover and who they fit, and it names three tools that sit next to a platform. It covers software only. It is not legal or audit advice. Your buyer and your auditor decide what counts as enough proof.

What does compliance automation software do?

It does the repeat work around an audit. In plain words, it does five jobs:

  1. Connects to your tools. It links to your cloud host, your code store, your laptops and your work apps. Each link is called an integration.
  2. Collects evidence. Evidence is the proof an auditor wants, such as a record that every laptop is encrypted. The software gathers it for you.
  3. Tracks controls. A control is a rule your company follows and can prove, such as "new staff get security training". The software marks which controls pass and which fail.
  4. Holds your policies. Policies are the written rules. Many platforms track who has signed them.
  5. Shares proof. Some platforms give your auditor a direct view of the evidence. Many also include a trust center and help to answer security questionnaires.

SOC 2 reports come in two kinds, called Type I and Type II. Your buyer will say which one it wants, so ask your buyer first. Your auditor can explain the difference.

What does each compliance platform cost?

Only two platforms set a price you can read. For the rest, the price comes after a demo or a call.

How we compare compliance platforms

Each card below has five bars. A longer bar on a card means a stronger fit on that point. Here is what each bar looks at.

Frameworks and audit
Which frameworks the plan covers and how you reach an auditor.
Automation
How much evidence the software collects for you, and how many tools it connects to.
Price clarity
How easy it is to find a price without talking to sales.
Trust and openness
Clear statements about what the software does not replace, and a trust center of its own.
Support and auditors
Auditor access, in-house experts and help from people.

Every platform is read on the same five points, and a price that sits behind a demo shows as a shorter Price clarity bar.

The 11 compliance platforms in detail

Each card says who the platform fits, what it costs and what it covers. The tables above compare price and coverage.

Which platform is built for one framework, and which for several?

Where a base plan has a set framework count, it is one, so the number in the base plan matters. A second framework is a second line on your bill.

Strike Graph's Certify plan has SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR and ISO 27701 as its Tier 1 options, and it sells an ISO 27001 internal audit as an add-on. For breadth, Hyperproof covers 160+ frameworks, Scrut 70+ and Vanta 35+.

Who signs your SOC 2 report?

An independent audit firm signs it. Software cannot. The platform collects proof, and a licensed CPA firm tests your controls and issues the report. What differs between platforms is how you reach that firm.

When one company group owns both the software and the audit firm, ask your buyer whether its security team accepts that setup before you sign. When you bring your own auditor, ask the platform which auditors already work with it.

What does a first SOC 2 cost beyond the software?

The software price is only part of the bill. Only Strike Graph sets a price on its extras, so the table uses them as a guide to what to ask others about.

Which tools handle trust centers and security questionnaires?

A trust center is a web page where you share security documents, such as your SOC 2 report, with buyers. A security questionnaire is the long list of questions a buyer sends before it signs. Most platforms above include a trust center, and several answer questionnaires with AI. Three more tools sit next to a platform and do not get you a SOC 2 report on their own.

Built-in trust centers: most of the 11 platforms include one in their plans. If a trust center and questionnaire help are all you need this quarter, a tool next to a platform may be enough. If you need the report itself, you still need a platform and an auditor.

  4. What do I pay in year two?
  5. How many security questionnaires are included each year?

Frequently asked questions

What is the best SOC 2 compliance software for startups?

It depends on what you need first. If you want a price you can read, look at Secureframe (from $7,500 a year) or Strike Graph (Scale from $21,500 a year). If you want the software and the audit from one company, look at Thoropass. If you want open source, look at Comp AI. If you want a penetration test and an expert in the fee, look at Oneleet. If you expect to add frameworks later, look at Hyperproof, Scrut, Sprinto or Vanta. An independent auditor still issues the SOC 2 report.

What does Drata cost?

Drata is quote only. Its Compliance plans are Foundation, Advanced and Enterprise. Foundation covers up to 50 full-time employees and one framework chosen from SOC 2, ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, HIPAA and GDPR. Ask Drata for a quote and ask what changes in year two.

Which is better, Vanta or Drata?

Both are quote only. Vanta has four tiers, 35+ frameworks and 400+ integrations, and you can use its auditor network or bring your own auditor. Drata has Foundation, Advanced and Enterprise on its Compliance plans, and Foundation covers up to 50 people with one framework. Drata also owns the SafeBase trust center. The better fit depends on your size, your framework and what your buyer asks for, so ask each for the first-year total in writing.

What are some alternatives to Secureframe?

Strike Graph is the other platform here with a price list: Scale starts at $21,500 a year, against $7,500 a year for Secureframe's Fundamentals. Drata's Foundation, Sprinto's Foundation and Scytale's startup bundles are built for a first framework too, and all three are quote only.

Is Drata a GRC tool?

GRC stands for governance, risk and compliance, the practice of managing your rules, risks and proof together. Drata sells a Compliance product, a trust center product called Assurance and a Third-Party Risk product, and its Foundation plan includes risk management. So it covers part of GRC, starting from compliance.

How much do SOC 2 audits cost?

The independent audit firm sets its own fee, separate from the software. Strike Graph's own assessment and audit services, for approved certifications, run $4,000 to $8,000 a year depending on the plan. Ask for the full cost, platform and audit, in writing before you sign.

How long does it take to get a SOC 2 report?

The time depends on your scope, how ready your controls are and when your audit firm can start. Software handles the repeat evidence work, but the audit firm sets the timetable. Ask each company and your audit firm for dates in writing before you sign.

Is SOC 2 better than ISO 27001?

Neither is better. A SOC 2 report comes from an independent accounting firm. An ISO 27001 certificate comes from an independent certification body. Ask your buyer which one it names in its security review, and start with that one. Where a base plan has a set framework count, it is one, so ask what the second costs.

Is SOC 2 legally required?

No law makes a SOC 2 report a general requirement for software companies. It is a report that buyers ask for. Some contracts and rules have their own security terms, so check with your buyer and your lawyer.

What is the best software for ISO 27001 certification?

Vanta, Secureframe, Drata, Strike Graph, Comp AI, Oneleet, Scrut, Hyperproof, Sprinto, Scytale and Thoropass all cover ISO 27001. Strike Graph also sells an ISO 27001 internal audit as an add-on, at $7,000 to $8,000. An independent certification body issues the certificate, not the software.

What is the purpose of a trust center?

A trust center is a web page where you share your security documents, such as your SOC 2 report, with buyers. Vanta, Secureframe, Strike Graph, Sprinto, Drata and Comp AI include one in their plans, and Conveyor sells one by use.
